We only had one set of footprints of Matthew's when he was stillborn 5 1/2 years ago. The nurse had placed one set of ink footprints onto a keepsake "Birth Certificate" card. Promptly, I went to get professionally framed this card, two photos, and a poem card that was in our hospital memory box. The back of the frame was archival sealed so the contents wouldn't disintegrate over time. There was no way to take this card out of the frame without destroying it.
Even though I'd been making custom footprints for almost 3 years, I never made one of Matthew's own footprints because of the frame issue. It finally dawned on me last week that I could take a picture of the keepsake card in the frame and then make one of my new photo charms. I had to do quite a bit of photo editing since the ink footprints were on top of many areas of writing on the card. This is the original photo of the keepsake card:
