A Small Victory -“Seeds of Hope” Benefit Dinner and Auction
May 2- Renton, WA
This western Washington area Charity Auction will be the third benefit dinner and will be celebrating A Small Victory's third anniversary. Please join the party!
The event will begin at 5PM with a silent auction, wine and hors d’oeuvres; followed by dinner and a special video presentation by the talented John Reidt. As the evening continues, auctioneer Brad Goode will conduct an exciting live auction. The night will conclude with a dessert auction with cakes donated from some of the best bakeries in western Washington.

It's America's favorite walking event! When you walk, you give hope to the families of babies born too soon or sick. The money you raise supports programs in your community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten our babies. We've been walking since 1970 and have raised an incredible $1.8 billion to benefit all babies.

Bereaved Parents of the USA (BP/USA) is a national non-profit self-help group that offers support, understanding, compassion and hope especially to the newly bereaved be they bereaved parents grandparents or siblings struggling to rebuild their lives after the death of their children, grandchildren or siblings.

The Compassionate Friends- "2009 National Conference"

Online registration is now open for the 32nd National Conference with the theme Mountains of Compassion–Roses of Love. As with past national conferences the upcoming event promises a good dose of caring, sharing, and healing with well over eleven hundred people who understand much of what all those attending the conference have gone through. There will be plenty to do, or you can simply relax with friends, old and new, during the conference, which features four outstanding keynote speakers.

Baby Memorial Album to be sent to Capitol Hill

Put a face on our love and our loss.
Help us send parents to Congress on March 25, 2009.

We invite you to help support important Stillbirth/SIDS/SUID legislation by participating in the creation of “Our Babies—Always Loved, Always Remembered—Memorial Album.”

On March 25, 2009 bereaved parents and other infant health advocates from around the country will be coming together on Capitol Hill to lobby for important legislation related to stillbirth, SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and SUID (sudden unexpected infant death.)

And we want to bring the names of your babies with us!

This book will compliment the parent teams who will share personal stories during visits with key Congressional leaders. The objectives of this Baby Memorial Album are to:

1. Honor our babies with this loving tribute.
2. Create and leave a lasting reminder to Congress that our babies did not die in vain.
3. Raise funds and help pay for airfare/hotel for some enthusiastic families who can’t afford to attend the event.

This Day on the Hill is part of a broader Symposium that will bring in leading researchers to discuss current research efforts and strategies to help save infant lives.

It is our goal to make your legislators aware of the challenges you have faced and convince them that there is a dire need for research, prevention and awareness. As a result of the 2008 Day on the Hill, two bills were drafted and introduced into Congress!

How can you get involved?

With your help, we can make this compelling Memorial Album a reality. This is a place to remember your precious baby with thoughts, photos or even poetry. Here is a list of ideas and donation levels. Click Here for more info

$10 Listing of the parents/siblings names, baby’s name, baby’s birth/death date (s), city and state
$25 Listing plus one photo
$50 Quarter-page: listing, photo and 50 additional words
$100 Half-page: listing, up to two photos and 100 additional words
$200 Full-page: listing, photos of your choice and up to 150 words
Donations of frequent flyer miles or donation of printing costs will also receive a full-page ad.

Deadline for submission is March 10, 2009.

Organizations, institutions, and businesses are also welcome to purchase space at the above levels to send their message of support. Any size donations are gratefully accepted.

On a personal note, my husband and I were at the Symposium and Day on the Hill in October 2008. It was an incredible event that I will remember forever. There is an empowering feeling when you walk into a legislator's office and speak about your child that passed away too soon. We were met with respect and compassion, and as a result, two bills were drafted for Congress, one by (then Senator) President Obama!

First Candle is a top notch organization that specializes in Stillbirth and SIDS research, prevention, and bereavement support. Through my participation at the 2008 Symposium, I became a "Gifts that Give Partner" with First Candle, donating money from affiliated sales and directly from my
Lil Care Angel Charm. I whole heartedly support First Candle and their efforts to make sure that our children's untimely deaths were not in vain.
